Fully Devoted Family is a LifeGroup resource designed for families seeking practical tools to help their kids become fully devoted followers of Christ.
The first part of the book helps families think about their current spiritual practices and learn about new ones. Each spiritual practice comes with a short devotional, questions for families to talk about together, and ideas for trying the practice as a family.
The second part of the book contains LifeGroup content that will help parents find support and accountability with other families. These six sessions include links to video content, discussion questions, and prayer prompts.
The win is more than getting a book into someone’s hands. We want families to feel known, supported, and connected to biblical community as they grow in their faith.
Many locations may choose to distribute books through the Get Connected Space. If that is your location’s process, Connections Leaders like you will play an important role in both providing the book and creating a meaningful connection around it. Be sure to connect with your Community Pastor to learn about the distribution process at your location.
Leveraging Conversations at the Get Connected Space
When someone asks about Fully Devoted Family, use the conversation to learn more about them and help them identify their next step. You can start with a simple question like, “That’s great! Have you already filled out the Fully Devoted Family request form?”
If they have already filled out the form, thank them for taking the time to complete it and follow your location’s process for providing the book. You could also ask these questions:
- What made you interested in this resource?
- Are you currently connected to a LifeGroup?
- Are there other parents or families who could go through this content with you?
If they already have a LifeGroup, encourage them to consider using the six LifeGroup sessions with their group or another family. If they aren’t connected to a LifeGroup, offer to help them explore the groups at your campus before they leave.
If they have not completed the form, have them visit: www.go2.lc/fullydevotedfamilyinterest
You might say something like:
“We’d love to get a copy to you! We’re asking everyone who wants one to fill out this quick form. It helps our team know who’s using the resource and gives us an opportunity to support you as you go through it.”
If needed, help them access the form on their phone or another available device. As they complete it, continue the conversation. Ask what interested them in the resource and whether they are currently connected to a LifeGroup.
Take a Relational Next Step
Fully Devoted Family is not intended to be something families simply pick up and work through alone. The resource is designed to be experienced alongside other people.
You can learn if someone is in a LifeGroup by saying something like:
“One of the things we love about this resource is that part of it is designed to be talked through with other parents. Are you already part of a LifeGroup?”
If they don’t have a LifeGroup, you can say:
“I’d love to help you find one. We have groups with different schedules, locations, and stages of life. Would you like to take a look together?”
Then use the LifeGroup Search Tool to help them explore options. Rather than simply pointing them toward the tool, stay with them when possible and help them identify a group that could be a good fit.
If joining a LifeGroup feels like too big of a next step in the moment, encourage them to think about another trusted family, friend, or mentor who could walk through the content with them.
Best Practices for Sharing About Fully Devoted Family
Many parents feel a weight as they consider what it means (and practically looks like) to disciple their children. Here are a few things to keep in mind as you talk about this resource.
- Connection Over Content. We are created for connection, not just content. So as you’re talking with attenders about this resource, make sure you’re learning if they have a LifeGroup or trusted relationship that could navigate this content with them. We believe the best transformation happens in community, so if they don’t have that yet, help them find a LifeGroup.
- Invitation Over Obligation. Following Jesus is a lifelong journey, not a list of things to do. We know parents have full lives, so as you share about this resource, help them see that this fits into what they’re already doing. A few things you might share include:
- You’ll find ideas to make your everyday interactions more intentional.
- You’ll find questions to ask your kids to get conversations started—and make them last for years to come.
- You’ll find resources to build your own faith as you lead your kids.
