Next Step Conversations: Baptism

by Leaders.Life Team

Life is full of next steps, each one bringing us closer to the God who created us and loves us. If someone has made the decision to follow Christ, one of the most valuable next steps they can take is baptism. Keep reading to learn how to share this important step with attenders at your Life.Church location.

Our Beliefs About Baptism

Baptism is a symbol of what Jesus did for us. When we go down into the water, we’re reminded of Jesus’ death on the cross and how His sacrifice covered our sins. When we come out of the water, we’re reminded that three days later, Jesus rose from the dead, defeating death and securing eternal life for us.

Baptism is a symbol—not just for us, but for our friends and family as well—that the old is gone and the new has come. Baptism is also an opportunity to celebrate with friends and family and tell others about the hope we’ve found in Jesus.

How We Approach Baptism

At Life.Church, Baptism Weekends are held quarterly on specific weekends of the year. By scheduling baptisms at regular intervals, our campus teams are able to plan for the event and ensure attenders and volunteers can take part.

Each Life.Church weekend service lasts one hour, and baptisms happen during the first half of the service during worship. When someone signs up to be baptized, a pastor at your campus will reach out and tell them when to arrive at church and any other details they need to know.

When they arrive, they’ll check in and receive their free baptism t-shirt and bag. They’ll change into their baptism t-shirt and extra clothes, and then a pastor will walk them through getting in and out of the baptism pool. They’ll be guided throughout the entire process, and a pastor will be available to answer any questions they have.

How to Talk About Baptism

As you talk with attenders at Life.Church about baptism, you’ll find that some people are more familiar with what baptism is than others. You can use these conversation prompts as you get to know attenders better to point them toward baptism as a next step:

How Can Someone Sign Up?

If someone wants to sign up for baptism, direct them to the LC app in the Get Connected Space—they can use the baptism form in the app to let their campus know of their interest. Attenders can also access the form by visiting: www.go2.lc/baptism
