What Do LifeGroups Coaches Do?

Coaches build relationships with LifeGroup Leaders, guiding and supporting them through onboarding, development, and discipleship.

  1. Onboard: Help Leaders Get Started

Like many new things, getting started can be one of the most intimidating parts of leading a LifeGroup. But when a new leader connects with someone who’s passionate about community and is there to help them succeed, getting started becomes much easier.

Coaches primarily assist the onboarding process for new leaders by helping them clarify the vision of their group and supporting them relationally as they get started. There are other elements of the onboarding process that coaches might help with, too. Talk with your Community Team to learn about the specific responsibilities at your location.

  1. Develop: Help Leaders Bring Their Best

Coaches connect with their leaders and develop intentional relationships. This support ensures leaders are able to lead and grow for the long haul. Often, this looks like helping leaders develop their self-awareness and leadership capacity.

  1. Disciple: Help Leaders Keep Growing

Coaches also have the opportunity to help leaders grow spiritually. Our hope is that leaders will become more like Jesus, living how He lived as they lead their LifeGroup. Following Jesus is very personal, but it’s not meant to be private. Coaches walk alongside leaders as they follow Jesus and lead others to do the same.

What’s Expected of a LifeGroups Coach?

Coaches use their personal experience of pursuing Jesus and living within the power of community to serve and support their LifeGroup Leaders. Here are a few expectations for all coaches.

When it’s time to check in, coaches ask their leaders how their LifeGroup is going, what roadblocks or tensions they’re facing, and how they can support and pray for them.

I’m In! How Do I Get Started?

Please connect with your local Community Team and know they’re here to help as you jump in and learn more. Here are a few key next steps to help you step into this role.

  1. Download the Life.Church app. This is the tool you’ll use to get updates on your leaders. Plus, you can find tons of other resources, view the weekly guide, and more. Your Community Team will help you learn how to use the app.
  2. Explore the “Resources” tab at www.life.church/lifegroups. This is where you’ll find free content, curriculum, tips, and ideas that you can share with your leaders.
  3. Connect with your local Community Team to learn more about what the LifeGroups Coach role looks like at your campus. You’ll probably have more questions as you start exploring these resources and leading your leaders. When you have questions, your Community Pastors will be great people to connect with to find answers.

Thank you for leading our leaders to follow Jesus and love our neighbors through the power of community. We’re excited for you and can’t wait to see all that God has in store for you!
