Connections Coach Role Guidance

What Do Connections Coaches Do?

Coaches help create a culture of belonging, growth, and discipleship among Connections Leaders, which strengthens confidence and increases effectiveness. Through their investment, the Get Connected Space truly fulfills its purpose: to be a place where people don’t just get welcomed, but get connected.

Connections Coaches build relationships with Connections Leaders, guiding and supporting them through onboarding, development, and discipleship.

  1. Onboard: Help Leaders Get Started

Coaches assist the onboarding process by helping new Leaders understand the vision for the Get Connected Space, learn the rhythms of the weekend, and feel confident engaging with attenders. They help Leaders see how every interaction contributes to helping people find belonging and take their next step toward following Jesus.

There may be additional onboarding elements unique to your campus, so check in with your Community Team to learn what this process looks like at your location.

  1. Develop: Help Leaders Bring Their Best

Coaches connect regularly with their Leaders, building meaningful relationships that foster consistency, confidence, and growth. They provide encouragement, celebrate wins, and help Leaders identify opportunities to strengthen their leadership.

This intentional development ensures that Leaders are equipped to serve well for the long haul. Coaches help Leaders grow in self-awareness, communication, and effectiveness—empowering them to serve attenders with genuine care and spiritual discernment.

  1. Disciple: Help Leaders Keep Growing

Coaches also walk with Leaders in their personal and spiritual growth. The goal is not only to help them lead well but to help them become more like Jesus as they do.

Coaches use spiritual discernment to encourage, guide, and help Leaders identify their next steps for growth. They also notice when someone might be ready to take on more responsibility or needs extra care and bring those insights to their Community Pastor.

What’s Expected of a Connections Coach?

Connections Coaches are experienced, trusted, and relational Leaders who have demonstrated faithfulness and maturity in serving at Life.Church. They’ve been invited by their Community Pastor to step into this elevated role because they model Christlike leadership and have a genuine heart to develop others. Here’s what’s expected of every Connections Coach:

Connect Consistently
Consistency builds trust. Coaches intentionally connect with their Leaders each week. They ask meaningful questions about how things are going, where Leaders might feel stretched, and how they can pray or support them.

Care Genuinely
Every interaction is an opportunity to show care. Coaches get to know their Leaders personally—their families, stories, and faith journeys—helping them feel seen, valued, and encouraged.

By building steady and genuine relationships, Coaches create a culture of reliability and encouragement where Leaders can thrive.

Resource Appropriately
Coaches share tools, tips, and training that help Leaders grow in confidence and skill. They know how to connect Leaders with support and tailored resources based on each Leader’s unique needs and experience.
