The best LifeGroups feel like family, and one of the best ways to build those close relationships is to unite around one common purpose. And the good news is that Jesus makes that purpose pretty clear. When asked about the most important commandments, Jesus says it all comes down to loving God and loving our neighbor as ourselves. So how do we do that well? And how can our LifeGroup make that a priority?
If we’re honest, a lot of things hold us back from being good neighbors. We’re consumed with our own comfort. We’re worried we’ll offend our neighbors. We’re busy just trying to keep up with our own lives.
If we follow Jesus, our lives should look like His, and He was all about loving people.
But if we follow Jesus, our lives should look like His, and He was all about loving people. So when we come together in our LifeGroups to serve our communities, we’re living out our faith and we’re becoming more like Christ. But this isn’t just about us serving others.
This is about recognizing that we get to know God better by loving one another. When we serve, our own hearts are changed. The Bible goes from being information we read about to something we actively live out.
And that’s why season six of the You’ve Heard It Said podcast is all about being good neighbors in our communities through five key areas: restoring well-being, embracing families, elevating education, seeking justice, and empowering communities.
Trust us—it might just be your favorite season yet.
Each episode will give you powerful stories that will inspire you to love your neighbors, but perhaps even more importantly, each episode will challenge the way you think about God and others. Your faith won’t be the same after hearing these, and we think it’ll be a series that will bring your LifeGroup closer than ever.
We’ll answer questions like:
- Why should I care about my neighbor?
- Is there something better than self-care?
- What if we stopped saying “broken families” and started loving all families?
- Does everyone have the same opportunities?
- What is biblical justice?
- Why doesn’t Life.Church do mission trips?
- How does Life.Church get involved in the community, and how can our LifeGroup be a part of it?
You’ll want to hear every episode, but as always, don’t just listen. Talk it over as a LifeGroup and commit to finding a place where you can make a difference together.
Maybe you’ll decide that your LifeGroup cares about education, so you’ll search for a Local Mission Partner in your community and tutor kids. Maybe each of you will have a different next step, and that’s okay, too!
Whatever you decide, hold one another accountable to turning this information into activation. When you do, you might be surprised at how God changes you in the process.
