Do you ever find yourself wishing you could grow deeper in your faith or know Jesus more? Perhaps you’ve been challenged to grow beyond a head-knowledge of Jesus and fully step into the ways He lived His life.
Discipleship is the lifelong, relentless pursuit of Jesus’ way of living. But what does it look like to live a life devoted to Jesus’ way of living? Everyone’s approach will differ, but there are guiding ideas Jesus modeled and taught that can center us as followers of Jesus.
You and your LifeGroup can take a closer look at these guiding ideas in the four-book series, Following Jesus: Conversations About the Kingdom.
What Is Following Jesus?
This study was created by Life.Church with people like you in mind. Through this experience, you’ll explore 16 Guiding Ideas to gain a new, more complete, and beautiful perspective on what it means to follow Jesus.
Following Jesus is divided into four themes. Each of these themes has its own book that comes with individual and group work. These themes are divided into four sessions, and each session covers one of the 16 Guiding Ideas for discipleship.
Here’s a broad overview of the four themes:
-
- Theme 1: What It Means to Follow Jesus
- Theme 2: Following Jesus Together
- Theme 3: Following Jesus in Our Daily Lives
- Theme 4: Following Jesus for a Lifetime
Using Following Jesus With Your LifeGroup
Like we said earlier, each theme comes with individual and group work.
The individual work is broken into sections, each with three parts. This includes studying Scripture, reading perspectives from other sources, watching short videos, and completing guided reflections. Each session takes approximately two hours, but you can break it up however you’d like.
The group work comes at the end of each session and includes questions to guide group discussions. You’ll also find prayer prompts to go through together.
Both individual work and group work are essential. We need time to reflect on our own, but we can’t experience real discipleship without community.
To ensure everyone can participate in the discussions, individual work should always be completed in advance.
It’s highly recommended that your group go through this content at an unhurried, yet consistent pace. We suggest that you not complete more than one session a month. Give yourself time to gain insight and live it out as you work through the study together.
